Exhibition is a scroll-through library of projects and travels in progress that has been part of shaping my journey - studio snapshots, field recordings, model fragments, trip photos and fully realised works. The content follows a gentle chronological flow from newest to oldest. Browse at your own pace - each frame is a doorway into the ideas, materials and experiments that shape my work.
The bachelor graduation project was to design a sports and culture center with the capasity to house 1500 users. From the moment you approach, the building’s waveform roof frames a view of the Maaskant between the waves. Beneath this wave, two “hills” have a program filled with sports, administration, library, classrooms etc. The two “hills” split by a pedestrian “valley” foster a space for interaction. The lightweight, translucent membranes suggest inflatables billowing in the wind.
My first bachelor project: a slender dike-side house for an elderly couple’s home and B&B, with guest rooms, tent sites, kitchen and pool wrapped around a private courtyard, capped by a folding concrete roof that blends into the flat Dutch landscape.
Design concept
A substantial part of architecture is about form, composition and materialization. Through these experiments, during our first year of bachelor's, we were allowed to challenge our perception and compositional skills. We learned to assemble different elements into new elements and we explored how shape and form can affect and play with light, shadow, and view lines.
